Proposal Writing and Grants Research

Presenter: Susan Rodenberg-- the Nonprofit Resource Librarian at the Dayton Metro Library
Description/ Content: 2 hours of lecture, interaction among participants, networking, funding resources available at Dayton Metro Library, PowerPoint and exercises regarding the grant seeking process.
Who Should Attend: EMS staff interested in learning about grant seeking, fundraising, funding sources and/or partnerships.
Proposal Writing and Grants Research: This course focuses on the essential knowledge and skills fundraisers need to develop effective foundation proposals.
Attendees will
• Learn how to plan an effective proposal narrative
• Practice writing selected components of the proposal
• Review of grant writing resources available through the Dayton Metro Library
• Research potential funding partners using Foundation Directory Online Professional (Only available at Dayton Metro Library)
• Learn how to analyze and evaluate prospects using Foundation Directory Online Professional to determine a potential fit (Only available at Dayton Metro Library)

"Grant Seeking Basics”

Description/ Content: 3.5 hours of lecture, interaction among participants , networking, powerpoint and exercises regarding the grant seeking process using United Way America model.
Who Should Attend: EMS staff interested in learning about grant seeking, fundraising, funding sources and/or partnerships.
Learning Outcomes: Trainee will:
• Understand what a grant is, the grant seeking process, a model for
proposal development and tips for writing a fundable proposal;
•Learn the "3 Rs" of grant seeking; and
•Experience how to develop a Logic Model (i.e., goals, activities, inputs, outputs and outcomes).
