Firefighter II Paramedic / Lateral Positions Scope of Selection Process:
1. Oral interview

Minimum Qualifications:
• Current Firefighter Level II/Paramedic Certification by the Ohio Department of Public Safety
At least 1 year of Full Time service as a Firefighter Level II/Paramedic
• Successful completion of all phases of the selection process
• US Citizen & at least 21 years old
• HS Graduate or GED
• Valid Ohio Drivers’ License; good driving record
• Possess the physical ability to perform the tasks associated with the position.
• Acceptable background investigation
• Certified Fire Safety Inspector within one year of appointment
Nature of Work:
Firefighter/Paramedic are responsible for performing hazardous tasks under emergency conditions. Work sometimes involves close contact with toxic gases, explosive mixtures and radioactive materials. A portion of the work consists of the performance of various duties in the maintenance of the fire station, and the preventative and corrective maintenance of trucks and equipment. Firefighter must readily become familiar with modern firefighting, fire prevention inspection method and paramedic techniques providing emergency medical services by performing needed care to patients as prescribed by federal, state, regional and local mandates and protocols before entrance on duty. The work requires strict adherence to departmental rules and regulations. Supervisors make assignments of specific tasks and indicate methods and procedures to be followed through either oral or written instructions. Work is under close supervision most of the time, but there are times when courses of action must be determined independently. Supervision may be occasionally exercised over Part Time firefighters during absence of superior officer.
Salary Range: $16.69 to $21.98 per hour.
