#GMVEMSC Training: FIRST Training - March 27

Afternoon everyone! Due to additional request for this training we provided at Soin, we are scheduling another session with Dr. Yeager at Kettering Medical Center on March 27th. Please see attached.

This is a FREE Event for Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Nurses, and Physicians. FIRST addresses burnout, resilience, and vicarious trauma to hospitals hardest hit by the opioid epidemic. FIRST training is provided by a national expert on resilience and trauma-informed care who has worked extensively with hospital

medical staffs, police, and other first responders.

Speaker: Kenneth R. Yeager, PhD

Kenneth R. Yeager, PhD, is a clinical professor in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He

also serves as director of the Stress, Trauma and Resilience (STAR) program at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. The STAR program recognizes

the importance of addressing experiences of trauma with evidence-based, trauma-informed practices and approaches to care. The program, and four other Ohio centers focusing on providing crisis intervention to hospitalized traumatic violent crime victims, received grant money as part of the “Ohio Attorney General’s Expanding Services and Empowering Victims Initiative.” Within the STAR program, Yeager has developed The Ohio State University Medical Center Trauma Recovery Center, which provides psychological and psychiatric care for victims of violent crime. Yeager, who holds an endowed professorship as the David E. Schuller Professor for Patient Compassion, has numerous publications in the areas of crisis intervention; resilience building; treating co-morbid substance abuse and mental illness; quality improvement and developing quality metrics; and evidence-based practice.
