NHTSA Seeks Experienced Candidate to Fill EMS Specialist Role

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for an open position with the Office of EMS. The NHTSA Office of EMS advances a national vision for EMS through projects and research, fosters collaboration among federal agencies involved in EMS planning, measures the health of the nation's EMS systems and delivers the data EMS leaders need to help advance their systems.

Experienced job seekers looking to join the team and serve in a hands-on role overseeing projects of national significance to improve emergency medical services, 911 systems and emergency health care are encouraged to apply

Duties include:

  • Develop, manage, and oversee projects of national significance, including those that enhance the collection and strategic analysis of EMS and 911 data and result in improved EMS, 911, highway safety and prehospital health care systems throughout the nation.
  • Coordinate program activities, resolving programmatic conflicts or barriers to program progress, and furnish authoritative and future-oriented advice, with special emphasis on EMS data management, system analysis and performance measures.
  • Represent the Office of EMS on internal NHTSA teams, work groups, and office process teams, as well as on various external committees and task forces, and routinely prepare and make presentations regarding EMS and facilitate discussion among diverse organizations to arrive at national consensus on complex national EMS and 911 system issues.

DEADLINE REMINDER: Apply now for rural EMS training and recruiting grants

 

Eligible applicants from rural EMS agencies are encouraged to submit applications before March 18, 2021

 

EMS organizations planning on applying for a Rural EMS Training Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment must submit applications by March 18. SAMHSA plans on awarding up to $5.5 million in awards to help eligible agencies recruit and train personnel. More information is available on SAMHSA's website.

In recognition of the great need for emergency services in rural areas and the critical role EMS personnel serve across the country, SAMHSA plans on funding up to 27 projects, with a maximum of $200,000 per grant awardee. Eligible applicants include rural EMS agencies operated by a local or tribal government (fire-based and non-fire based) and non-profit EMS agencies.
